There is still a lot of snow up there and it has been raining for two days down in Bourg d’Oisans where are holiday accommodation is based – http://www.tourdoisans.com . (which means more snow up high). In addition if you have an accident up there – they will not be able to get medical care to you so i would not advise it.

Hello! We are hoping to cross the Col du Galibier on Thurs 3 June, 3 days before it is due to officially be open (week 23) – have you any idea if they have (mainly) cleared it…… or should we be looking for an alternative route?!! or taking crampons. Many thanks, Patrick

It might have been a mad day but the best day out on the bike this year. Can’t thank Phil and Helen enough for the their hospitality. Great value for money, friendly, helpful with the local knowledge, great accommodation and spot on location. We will be returning with a plan to do the Marmotte…. that will be a mad day out.

Entries usually open in January. We keep all guests staying with us fully informed but you will need to book accommodation with us.

Hi Peter good to hear from you. The date for La Marmotte is usually announced in October and is usually the first week of July. The cost is somewhere around the 40 euro mark i believe. We have various accommodation options (self catered / B&B and a tour week) which we will release to our existing customers first in september. If there is anything left (it usually sells out within a couple of week) we will offer it to the general public. I and my brother will be completing La Marmotte in 2010. We booked with yourselves to hire bikes in May this year, to ride up the alpes. I envisage La Marmotte will be a different challenge but are looking forward to it any way. Could you advise when the entries will be out and what is the approximate cost of the entry and accomodation?

Glad to hear that you weren’t taking it easy whilst the Tour was on the Ventoux! I like the sound of the jerseys. Brutal! Climbing the Ventoux, the temperature reached 39 degrees! the 93 or so miles to the bottom of the mountain were very up and down, but a great ride. I lost around a hour at the third climb after breaking a spoke , but managed to get going again on a borrowed wheel from Mavic and start clawing back some time. Until the Ventoux….

Riders were crawling up, walking, sitting, throwing-up and collapsing in the heat. It took me 3 hours, but I got there!
