The rain came towards the end of the day in Alpe d’Huez but it seemed to cool the riders down after a very hot day in the saddle. More photos from the sportive today. The riders had already climbed the Col du Glandon, the ColĀ du Telegraphe and the might Col du Galibier. Some were feeling the effects…..

Brutal! Climbing the Ventoux, the temperature reached 39 degrees! the 93 or so miles to the bottom of the mountain were very up and down, but a great ride. I lost around a hour at the third climb after breaking a spoke
, but managed to get going again on a borrowed wheel from Mavic and start clawing back some time. Until the Ventoux….
Riders were crawling up, walking, sitting, throwing-up and collapsing in the heat. It took me 3 hours, but I got there!
