Cycling Alpe d’Huez in December

I braved the weather on new years eve to climb Alpe d’Huez on my bike. This time of year I tend to ride my commencal hardtail mountain bike with slick tyres as I feel more comfortable on the slippery surface. The climb is a lot harder this time of year with the cold air really making it harder to climb than in the summer. The road up to Alpe d’Huez is always opened very quickly after snow so it is possible to ride it all year round. Now it is 2009 i will be setting a date in January when the weather is OK to ride it again.
